Bashful Billy's Favorite Things

I bet he'd destroy some DiCarlo's pizza

In the early 1950s, just days after what is now known as the Flatwoods Monster was spotted in Braxton County, WV, another anamoly was seen several miles north in the Vineyard Hills neighborhood of Wheeling, WV.

Locals claimed to see a bright light streaking across the sky followed by a supposed crash and sighting of a shy, fiery-mouthed creature later coined “Bashful Billy.”

To this day, the legend is relatively unknown (even to Wheeling locals), but I am always out here trying to give legends space to breathe and evolve, so I refuse to let Billy’s memory fade away.

Fave food: DiCarlo’s Pizza

An Ohio Valley staple where cold cheese is heaped upon a square slice of ‘za. A polarizing choice even to most humans, it would surely confuse and delight an alien.

Fave movie: Dude, Where’s My Car?

I was going to look up a synopsis of this movie, but went solely on vibes instead. I only watched it ONE time when it came out and it was so batshit. They lose their car and there’s aliens and scantily clad women…that’s about all I remember. If Billy crashed his ship, I’m sure he felt similarly disoriented. He would relate to this movie on one hand and on the other hand find it fascinatingly braindead.

Fave book: The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams

Every alien’s favorite book. I will not elaborate further.

Fave song: “Hot in the City” by Billy Idol

At the time of his crash, Wheeling was a hopping city. He breathes fire. His name is Billy. It writes itself!
